Rockies Magic Number

There is no joy in Denver, mighty Pujols blew one over the fence.

Date: 5/10/2006
Position: 1st NL West
Games Back: --
Magic Number: 128

Fogg pitched 7.0 innings with only 1 ER.

Holliday homered again.

Tom Martin and Scott Dohmann combined for a scoreless inning.

The Cardinals had 3 errors.

...

...

...

And the Rockies lost.

To lead off the 8th, Josa Mesa gave up consecutive singles, zero outs, and then Albert Pujols pounded one to deep left.

You know, I'm not even mad. I'm impressed. That's clutch right there. And then Isringhausen came through in classic Izzy form, striking out 3 for the save.

Not the best game of baseball the Rockies have ever played either. 10 LOB, 6 RISP.

Not much more to add on the game last night. But you have to expect the Pujols wrecking crew to come through at some point. He's just that good.

In a "Preview", BH Kim (1-0, 3.29) faces Jeff Suppan (3-2, 4.46) (in progress during this writing), and boy, it's not looking good thus far. But I'll delve into that after the game.
