The Rockies are currently in a stretch that will really determine what this team is made of. Tonight the Rockies return home from a 9 game road trip on which they went 5-4. The last two games were a sweep at the hands of the Braves. The Rockies will square off against the Red Hot Reds (shudder), followed by a solid Astros team over the weekend. Canadian Wunderkind Jeff Francis goes against South Dakotan Loser Brandon Claussen. Francis is 0-2 on the year with an ERA of 4.50. While the ERA is not bad he has received no run support zip-zero-none. This has been the story of the Rockies season especially at home where they are averaging a paltry 4.41 runs per game. No Rockies starter has won a home game yet. Claussen is 2-2 with an ERA of 6.04. These stats are aided by his home performance and belie his performance on the road. So far this year in 2 road starts he is 0-2 with an ERA of 13.5, WHIP of 2.25 and a BAA of .351. Hopefully, the Rox can find their home bats tonight against questionable pitching. Brian - OUT.
